Welcome to the West Virginia H1N1 (Swine) Flu Resource Center. Our goal is to provide information to minimize the spread of the H1N1 Flu also known as Swine Flu.

We will help you understand the groups that are at risk for developing complications, like children, pregnant women and those with underlying health problems.

Here you will find the most up-to-date information about the H1N1 Flu vaccine as well as links to local health departments and flu vaccine location information.

(January 19, 2010)  West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin, First Lady Gayle Manchin and State Health Officer Dr. Cathy Slemp received H1N1 vaccinations today at the Capitol.  The Governor said, “I know you’re wondering, why we waited until now to get our H1N1 shot.  The answer is, the First Lady and I were not part of the initial target group for H1N1 vaccination.  Now that everyone has had an opportunity to be vaccinated, the First Lady and I wanted to get ours.   I would encourage anyone that hasn’t had their shot yet, to get it.”   Photo one is  Governor Joe Manchin being prepped for his shot by DHHR Cabinet Secretary Patsy Hardy who is a nurse.  Photo two is State Health Officer Dr. Cathy Slemp being administered the H1N1 nasal vaccine by Kanawha-Charleston Health Department Nursing Director Janet Briscoe.
